ºÚÁÏÍø's School of Health and Medical Professions (SHAMP) addresses the growing health care needs in ºÚÁÏÍø and beyond. In addition to SHAMP, Vandal medicine includes the ºÚÁÏÍø Office of Underserved and Rural Medical Research, Project ECHO ºÚÁÏÍø and North ºÚÁÏÍø Area Health Education Center (NI-AHEC). These programs offer educational opportunities for research, outreach to rural and underserved communities and continuing education to future and current health care workers and K-12 educators. These coexist with the Vandal medical education graduate programs and bring a holistic approach to expanding healthcare education for ºÚÁÏÍø.
ºÚÁÏÍø Substance Use Disorder Education Program
Earn a certificate of completion and satisfy the MATE Act requirement for 8 hours of substance use disorders training with this free 8-hour course designed for ºÚÁÏÍø's health professions students.

SHAMP mission and goals
The School of Health and Medical Professions’ mission is to improve the health of the people of ºÚÁÏÍø by developing a robust academic health care delivery system that will educate and launch a skilled workforce of health care professionals to address critical industry shortages.
- Create an educational pathway in ºÚÁÏÍø to train its citizens in health care professions. Vandal Medicine will expand and strengthen health care services in ºÚÁÏÍø.
- Expand health care education at ºÚÁÏÍø to address the critical workforce shortage.
- Bring more quality physicians to ºÚÁÏÍø’s rural areas, places that often bear the brunt of workforce shortages.
- Develop continuing education and professional development programs to train and retain existing health care professionals to ensure that even the most remote areas receive adequate medical and mental health services.
- Meet the medical workforce needs of the future as the population continues to grow in ºÚÁÏÍø and the nation. Build the school upon the highest quality, basic, applied and clinical research available at ºÚÁÏÍø.
